Legendary Juju musician, King Sunny Ade, has categorically denied rumors of his alleged kidnapping, assuring Nigerians and fans worldwide that he is safe, healthy, and still pursuing his music career.
Speaking exclusively to Sharpedgenews.com via a phone call facilitated by his wife, Mrs. Bose Olubo Adegeye, King Sunny Ade (real name Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye) dismissed the widespread speculation about his safety.
The rumors, which gained traction after social media posts by one of his daughters, had sparked anxiety among fans and the public.
“Nobody kidnapped me. I pray, as I don’t want anybody to kidnap me. I believe the whole world is in love with me. This is me, King Sunny Ade,” the 78-year-old music icon stated.
He further expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern, saying, “I have to thank God and you, my fans, for the concern. I have been doing my shows. I was at a show last Saturday at Lekki, Lagos. I am on my way to have a show, and I am coming back again to play in Lagos, as well”.
King Sunny Ade clarified that he had simply taken some time to rest following recent performances and was never missing or abducted.
He attributed the confusion to the fact that some of his children had not seen him recently, emphasizing, “I know my children are in love with me, and they want to see me. I didn’t go anywhere. This is me. I thank the children, too, for their concern as well”.
The controversy began after his daughter, Damilola Adeniyi-Adegeye, raised an alarm on social media, alleging that her father was being held against his will by his manager and stepbrother, Dayo Adegeye.
King Sunny Ade also thanked President Bola Tinubu, his fans, and all Nigerians for their concern and support.
He reassured everyone, “By God’s grace, enjoyment continues. I am still in music. Music is my life; it is my business, and I will continue to do it. I thank the whole world for loving me as usual”.
The Juju maestro remains committed to his music and grateful for the continued love from his fans and the Nigerian public.
