Kogi 2011: Gov Idris’s Imposition of In-law Tears PDP Apart

* Gov, Wife at War over Candidate
* Wife Barred from Public

Just as the preparation for the 2011 governorship election gathers momentum in Kogi State , the State Governor, Ibrahim Idris and his wife, Zainab are currently at war over the choice of the PDP candidate to succeed the Governor in the December governorship poll.

Sharpedgenews.com gathered that the current imbroglio between Idris and his wife is a result of the imposition of candidate for the next gubernatorial election in the State.

The wife was against the imposition of a business partner and in-law to the Governor, Captain Wada against another candidate of the party, Jibrin Isa Echocho who the Governor had already substituted his name to that of his in-law.

Sharpedgenews.com investigation revealed that Jibrin Isa Echocho was one of the people that supported the current Governor while he was the acting Governor and also made sure that the Governor was returned.

The wife has been making contacts with powers that be in Abuja to compel her husband to ensure that Echocho is given the PDP ticket for December polls in the State.

Further investigation by Sharpedgenews.com showed that the Governor who seems not to be comfortable with his wife’s interest in Echocho has barred her from any public outing and has mandated the head of security at Lugard government house in Kogi not to allow the first lady to go out or receive any visitor.

The crisis is already tearing the party apart in the State as some aggrieved members of the PDP in the State are set to work against the interest of the party and support the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the December guber polls.

Both PDP and the Action Congress of Nigeria in the state are deeply immersed in bickering over choices of flag-bearer, thus making a possibility that an underdog party may produce the next governor if the election is not rigged.
