Liberia to Use NIGCOMSAT Drive Development, Improve Rural Lives

The President of Liberia, Mr. George Mennah Weah, has urged all the ministries in his country to use the Nigeria Communications Satellite

(NIGCOMSAT), to drive the country’s development and improve the lives of ordinary Liberians, even as he admitted that the poverty rate in the country is of great concern to him.

NIGCOMSAT’s  Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Adamu Idris, in a statement said the President while welcoming the Nigerian delegation to Monrovia  said the government of Liberia through the various ministries will key into it and ensure a smooth collaboration.

Meanwhile, the Liberian, Assistant Minister of Planning in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Dominic Kwenme has described NIGCOMSAT as a great asset to the African continent.

Kwenme, in the statement said Nigeria is driving Africa into the technological realm with the ownership of a communication satellite.

According to him, despite many years of independence, Africa has not been able to push through its development stride, but now with the presence of an indigenous satellite, the ball has been set for African countries to take advantage and make the best use of it.

He said: “I am proud to be part of this historic meeting which is meant to drive Africa especially the underserved countries to quickly meet up with the developed world and Nigeria is doing us proud.”

Also in a remark, the Minister of Education, Prof. Ansu Sonii, had explained to the NIGCOMSAT delegation that the government of George Mennah Weah is pro-poor, stressing that the government is concerned with the wealth fare of the people of Liberia on how to use technology drives its development.

The Executive Director Marketing and Business Development, Mr. Samson Osagie, who led the delegation  informed the Liberian president, that their mission to Liberia was informed on the need to leverage on the various services of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, that would assist in driving Africa’s development.

The services according to Osagie include: e-learning, internet service provision and  land administration documentation facility, adding that the mission target’s  is the various ministries and other department and agencies in Liberia.
