Man Asks Court to Stop Wife from Dumping Him

IBRAHIM Abdullahi on Monday pleaded with the Kaduna Sharia Court II, Magajin Gari, Kaduna to intercede in his marriage, so that his wife will not leave him.

Abdullahi’s wife, Maryam Yunusa, had gone to the court, requesting it to terminate the marriage, on the ground that she wants to be on her own.

The husband was however not ready to give in, as he asked the court not to grant the request.

“I want this court to help me plead with my wife to go back to her matrimonial home and forget what ever had happened.

“Please for the sake of the children between us forgive me for what ever happened and come back home,” 45-year old Abdulahi pleaded.

Abdullahi said even though Halima had moved out of his house seven month ago, but he was visiting her constanly in a bid to reconcile.

“I have never spent two weeks without visiting her, I want her to please come back.”

Halima had told the court that she would return the N5,000 paid as dowry in fulfilment of the condition for terminating the marriage, but Abdullahi countered that the five thousand naira was paid “long time ago and will not get me a new wife now, all i want is for you to return”.

The presiding officer, Khadi Ibrahim Inuwa gave the couple two weeks to reconcile their differences and report back to the court on March 26.(
