A man named Damilola Isheniyi, aged 40, was brought before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
He is accused of stealing his employer’s goods and money, valued at N1.1 million.
The charges against him include theft and unlawful conversion. The defendant denied all allegations.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Olaide Rawlings, the defendant was working as a manager at Vanguard Pharmacy in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, where he stole goods amounting to N751,035 and did not transfer the money to the company’s account.
The prosecutor further claimed that the defendant used N303,750 belonging to the company for his personal needs, after falsely stating the money was meant for diesel purchase for the pharmacy.
The defendant has been charged with violating Sections 390(6) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Mrs M.O. Osinbajo, the Magistrate, has granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties. The case has been adjourned until June 7 for a hearing.
