A POSSIBLE deadly attack was avoided on Monday at the Radio House building in Abuja when a man with explosive devises and a cache of ammunition in his possession was accosted by alert security personnel present at the building, where a ministerial conference was in progress.
The man, identified by police sources as John Akpabu, was entering when the security pulled him aside for a routine check and found the deadly materials in his possession.
According to the head of security attached to the Radio House, Mr. Akindele James, Mr. Akpabu was apprehended after they found “three grenades and 37 live ammunition” on him.
The ministerial conference that was in progress is part of the preparation for the forthcoming Democracy Day, organized by the Ministry of Information. Government ministers had been participating in the exercise, meaning that some of them may have been exposed to Monday’s possible attacks
