The Association of Wives of FCT Traditional Rulers, has lauded the President and FCT Minister, over the appointment of an FCT indigene, Mr Bitrus Lawrence, as the Mandate Secretary for FCT Area Council Services Secretariat.
The association said this in a statement signed by Hajiya Halima Mohammed, Secretary of the association and Sa’rauniyan of Karshi Chiefdom, on Tuesday in Abuja.
She said that the appointment was an affirmation of governments’ commitment to promoting an inclusive society.
“The fact that an Indigenous person has been awarded this crucial position of leadership is a sign of progress.
“Mr Bitrus Lawrence will be a strong advocate for our people and the conservation of our land and resources, a his appointment is considered as a positive step for FCT indigenes.
“Indeed it demonstrates the governments’ commitment to fostering a more inclusive society.
“We also wish to call on the FCT Minister to ensure that more indigenes are appointed to key positions in the FCT Administration,” she said.
