The 29-year-old footballer suffered the serious injury after an accidental challenge by Marcelo, a veteran left-back who currently plays for Brazil’s Fluminense.
Initially, Sanchez’s teammates believed he had broken his leg, but a medical report from the club confirmed it was a full dislocation.
The incident occurred as Marcelo, known for his exceptional footwork and skill, maneuvered past his opponents, unintentionally causing a shocking injury to Sanchez.
In a series of events that left spectators in disbelief, Marcelo’s supporting leg landed heavily on Sanchez’s leg while in mid-stride.
The former Real Madrid player was sent off in tears, and Sanchez screamed in pain on the pitch, with concerned players from both teams gathering around him. The incident happened in the 56th minute of the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
