Midterm performance: CRID President felicitates Otu, Odey

The President of Cross Riverians in the Diaspora (CRID) Christopher Lekan, on behalf of his organization, has sent felicitation to the governor, Prince Bassey Otu and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, on the milestone recorded within the first two years in office, amidst paucity of funds from the federal allocation.

Lekan said, the feats so recorded within the last two years are not only transformative but, a display of visionary stewardship which has tremendously impacted on the citizenry, both at home and in the diaspora.

His words: “In this short time, your administration has not only delivered tangible improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, but has also taken the historic step of establishing the Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM), signaling an enduring commitment to engaging our diaspora community in the growth and prosperity of our beloved state.”

According to the CRID President, the achievements will go a long way to position Cross River as a leading state, as well as return it to the eldorado that it deserves among the comity of states in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Lekan listed the projects to include the remodeled Governor’s office, renovated State Library Complex, the completed Local Government Service Commission Complex, the renovated Newspaper Corporation buildings and rehabilitation of military and paramilitary barracks.

Others, the CRID President enumerated were, the construction of roads across the three senatorial districts, payment of first tranche of gratuity to retirees, renovation of health facilities across the state as well as the approval of construction of the Boki East/West road among others.

He further prayed God to grant the governor and his team renewed valour and wisdom to do more for the people in line with his ‘People First Mantra,’ which Lekan pointed out, “is already being felt by CrossRiverians within and outside the nation.”

The CRID President used the opportunity to call on CrossRiverians at home and in the diaspora not to engage in open confrontation and early political alignments, but rally round Otu in his quest for good governance, well articulated programs and policies for the development of the State.
