NINETEEN senior members of the violent Islamic fundamentalist group, popularly known as Bok Haram, were on Friday declared wanted by the paramilitary Joint Task Force, with a bounty of $1.8 million dollars placed on them.
The amount represents the reward for information leading to the arrest of top members of the radical sect response for the loss of hundreds of lives of innocent people in Nigeria in the last year alone.
The lion share of the bounty is on the head of the leader, Abubakar Shekau in the sum of $312,500, or about 50 million naira, while each of four top members of the violent group has a bounty of about $156,000. About 14 commanders also had about $62,500 on each of their heads.
This was revealed on Friday in a statement released by Lt. Col Sagir Musa, the spokesman of the Joint Task Force of outfit launched to combat the threat of the outlawed religious groups.
Phone numbers were released by the authorities for informants to make anonymous call about any information they have.
“They are wanted in connection with terrorist activities particularly in the northeast zone of Nigeria that led to the killings, bombings and assassination of some civilians, religious leaders, traditional rulers, businessmen, politicians, civil servants and security personnel amongst others,” the statement said.
