Minimum Wage : Nasarawa Assembly staff to commence indefinite strike Wednesday next week.

“…says other arms of government are enjoying minimum wage in the State except the legislative arm…”

The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) Nasarawa State Chapter said it has concluded plans to embark on indefinite strike as a result of non- payment of N70,000 National Minimum wage by the State Government.

This was the resolution of members during the association’s congress meeting held at the State Assembly complex Lafia the Nasarawa state capital today.

The PASAN Chairman , Comrade Suleiman Oshafu while briefing newsmen shortly after the congress meeting said they have resolved to embarked on indefinite strike due to non-payment of National Minimum wage by the State Government.

” We are resuming strike by Wednesday, 16th, April, 2025, this strike is going to be total and indefinite.

” It is a follow up to the last December 14, 2024 strike and is all about minimum wage implementation.

According to him, We had our congress meeting today Thursday and all the members of PASAN are in the same page and we have agreed on same position” Oshafu said.

Oshafu said that it was disheartened that all the arms of government in the state are enjoying minimum wage except PASAN members.

“It is only the legislative arm that are not being paid minimum wage in the State.

” Workers in the Executive and Judiciary arms have started enjoying the new minimum wage for months now, but we in the legislative arm PASAN waited for months and nothing happens despite all efforts from leadership to the union both within and outside.

” Arising from the Congress of Thursday 10th April, 2025 members unanimously resolved to embark on an indefinite industrial action as from 16th April, 2025.

” We are giving government the grace and window period between today Thursday 10th of April 2025 to Wednesday 16th of April 2025 if nothing is done,

“We will commence indefinite strike,
we are writing letters to the State Government again over the issue.

” We are going to notify all the labour unions, the national body of PASAN, DSS and other security agencies to be on the notice.

He appreciated his members for their patience, cooperation and support at all times.
