Monarch Commends Anti-Cult Volunteer Corp

The traditional ruler of Emu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King   Johnson Ekpechi Ulu,  Ezemu IV, the Obunenwe of Emu Kingdom has commended the activities of  Delta State Volunteer Corp in curtailing the activities of cult members in  higher institutions in the state.

The royal father made this remark when members of  the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corp led by its President, Ogwu Chinuwa Austyne, paid  a courtesy visit to the monarch in his palace.

“It is with great joy in my heart that I receive you and your entourage in my palace today. On behalf of myself and entire people of Emu Kingdom, we say thank you very much for leading the crusade to cleanse our higher institutions and by extension the entire Delta State of cultism. You have waged the anti-cultism wars bravely and courageously to the admiration of all of us in this kingdom.”

While urging the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corp members not to relent on their oars, he asked to establish units of the volunteer corp in his domain as the hitherto activities of cult members have planted deep fears amongst his subjects.

In his response, the founder and President of the volunteer corp, Emu Amaka Ogwu Chinuwa   thanked the royal father for creating the time to host the group, explaining that members of the non-governmental organization are ambassadors of Delta state and as future leaders of the great state it is their responsibility to rid the state of destructive elements of all shades.

He also noted with appreciation the invaluable contributions of the executive Governor of the State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and Hon Ebifa Ijomah, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development to the success story recorded to date by the volunteer Corp.

He also used the opportunity to present the score card of the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corp whose sole objective is the attainment of crime-cult-free environment across the length and breadth of Delta State. He noted that “robbery, kidnapping, rape and pipe-line vandalization are direct consequences of cultism and cult related activities.”

In its three years of existence, the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corp has recorded  remarkable modest achievement some of which include far reaching project and survey to solve the nefarious activities of cult members and clashes of different factions in Delta State; initiating peace talk amongst warring cult groups; burning down of twelve smoking joints that littered Kwale; the renunciation of cultism by 289 cult members from 2009 till date and who have been empowered by the Hon Ebifa Ijomah, the Delta State Commissioner for Youth, whose Foundation has awarded scholarships to 32 indigent youths to various tertiary institutions in Delta State  as well as special grant to four youth to study Intelligence and Security studies at Novena University; the rescue of eight kidnapped persons; combat assault on robbery attacks and establishment of units of the volunteer corp in Kwale.
