More than 100 Million Mobile SIM Card Registered in Nigeria

110, 433, 976 Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards have so far registered under the combined registration project initiated by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), according to information released by the agency on Tuesday, in Abuja.

The disclosure came as the commission vowed that it would not protect telecoms operators if they were found to be cheating on subscribers.

The Executive Vice- Chairman(EVC) of the commission, Dr Eugene Juwah, told journalists in Abuja, that the data was already going through processing and cleaning at the commission.

While maintaining that the registration of SIMs was practically coming to an end except sideline registration of new lines, the EVC disclosed that there was clear evidence of multiple registrations and assured that, “these will be eliminated to create a database of integrity and credibility.”

According to him, once the exercise came to a close, subscribers whose SIM cards were not registered would be deemed not to be interested in the process or that the SIMs had been abandoned and would be disconnected.
