Wife of the Ondo State Peoples Democratic (PDP) governorship flagbearer, Mrs Eno Jegede, has stressed the need for government
at all levels to devote adequate resources for the upkeep of those living with disabilities.
She gave the remarks yesterday in Akure, when she visited the Ago-Ireti Leprosarium, where she presented gift items to its settlers.
“There is no doubt that people living with disabilities are part of us and should not be segregated against or stigmatised in any way.
“At the same time, government at all levels should take the lead by devoting adequate resources to the upkeep and socio-economic development of these special citizens.
” By so doing, their human dignity which hitherto had suffered derision would be rekindled” she urged.
She thus admonished the settlers to always to keep hope alive and put their trust in God, in their present circumstances.
Mrs. Jegede also solicited the prayers of the settlers for the successful conduct of the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State.
Reacting on behalf of the settlers, a woman, simply identified as Mrs Iretiola, appreciated Mrs. Jegede for her humility, and for counting Ago-Ireti Settlement worthy of her visit.
She prayed for the victory of her husband, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) in the October 10 governorship election, describing him as”the last hope of the masses.”
