‘N2bn Tinubu Birthday’: South-West PDP Seeks Probe of ACN Governors

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governors of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun and Ekiti States over the alleged use of over N2 billion public fund for the birthday of the  party leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The PDP, which also described as irresponsible call by the ACN for the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan over renovation of a church building to his village by a contractor, said “only a party of gangsters like the ACN would want the president of a country impeached just because a private contractor renovated a church, which is a property of the Anglican Communion and the entire Otuoke community.
and the entire Otuoke community.”

PDP Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon Kayode Babade said in a statement issued today that; “rather than calling for the impeachment of the president, the hypocrites in the ACN should be honest at least for once by calling for the removal and trial of its governors, who used public fund for the false birthday of the party leader, Bola Tinubu.”

The party said instead of castigating  President Jonathan for the Church renovation, the president deserves commendation for choosing to promote the work of God and not behaving like the ACN governors, who has created a god out of an individual on whose birthday public fund runing to over N2 billion was spent.

“It amounts to high level of hypocrisy and irresponsibility for a party like the ACN, which celebrated the false 60th birthday of its leader, Bola Tinubu with public fund to be calling for the impeachment of President Jonathan just because a contractor renovated a church owned by the Anglican Communion and the entire Otuoke community.

“Isn’t this also a clear demonstration of the ACN’s hatred for Christians, especially members of the Anglican Communion? Or would the ACN have loved that the said contractor played its community service and social responsibility roles by renovating a shrine or a brothel?

“If President Jonathan must be impeached because a contractor renovated a church in his hometown, what should be done to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State who used the State fund to build an ICT centre  for Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi-Akoko, Ondo State and named the centre after Tinubu, a private individual?

“Time has therefore come for the hypocracy and irresponsibility of the ACN to be put to an end and the EFCC must play its role by probing the N2 billion raised for Tinubu’s birthday by the five ACN controlled Southwest States and their local government councils,” the PDP said.
