The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set for its 2nd edition of Combat Sports Competition.
The annual Event is designed to test the combat readiness of the troops in a competitive manner.
The competition dubbed ‘Jos 2017’ is scheduled to hold from 25-30 March 2017 in Jos, Plateau state.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Air Commodore Ayodele Dudusola disclosed this today during a press conference to herald activities lined up for the event.
The Chairman said that the competition is aimed at promoting participation in sporting activities toward improving the physical fitness and foster espirit-de-corps amongst personnel.
“The event is a symbol of harmony that bonds the competing teams. It creates an awareness drive both for the competing teams and the general public.” participants including personnel fighting boko haram in the Northeast and other internal security operations would be competing in various events consisting of boxing, combat relay, combat swimming, judo, obstacle crossing, shooting, Taekwondo and tug of war.
Six teams comprising Headquarters NAF, Tactical Air Command, Special Operations Command, Mobility Command, Training Command and Logistics Command as well as Direct Reporting Units are expected to produce participants that would compete in the different sporting events. Recall that the maiden edition of the NAF Combat Sports Competition was held March 2016 in Kaduna with over 500 Airmen and women participated.
