The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), has said many state governments are obviously not aware of its N500 million educational and social intervention fund.
The N500 million fund is earmarked for the renovation of of projects and provision of infrastructure in Universities, Polytechnics, Government Colleges and Secondary Schools, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC), Prof. Umar Garba Dambatta, has stated.
The EVC made the disclosure while fielding questions from reporters at the 2019 Kano Social Influencers’ summit which held in the state capital recently.
Dambatta, however regretted that many state governments are taking advantage of the window to upgrade their social and educational infrastructure.
While underscoring what the N500 million can do, he said: “Well, may be many state governments are not aware of this special social intervention fund by the commission.”
According to the EVC, funds to the tune of N500 million is being made available for infrastructural development in schools till 2020.
According to him, the special window is in addition to what NCC has been doing in all spheres of human endeavour, especially in the Universities, Polytechnics, government colleges and secondary schools.
Dambatta, said the fund is a special intervention fund that is dedicated to renovating schools, providing schools with furniture, provision of boreholes across institutions.
