NEMA distributes relief items to Kogi windstorm victims

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief items to victims of windstorm disaster in Ijumu and Lokoja Local Government Areas of Kogi.

The Director-General of NEMA, Mr Mustapha Ahmed, who was represented by Mr Justin Uwazuruonye, Head, Abuja Operations Office of the agency told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the distribution was done in collaboration with the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA).

Uwazuruonye who commiserated with the people and the Kogi State government over the unfortunate incident, said the relief items were meant to cushion the effect of the incident.

He gave the details of the food and non-food items distributed to the victims as bags of rice, bags of beans, vegetable oil, tomato paste, spaghetti, mattresses, blankets and nylon mats.

Others are men’s wear, women’s wear, children’s wear, buckets, cooking pots, stoves, plates, spoons and cups.

NAN reports that the communities comprising Iyara, Ayetoro, Agbaja and Jamata in both LGAs were affected by windstorm which destroyed houses in March.
