THREE days after the massacre that left at least 30 people dead in Kizara village of Tsafe Local Government Area
of Zamfara State in north-west Nigeria, police Inspector-General Muhammad Abubakar has ordered the deployment of a reinforcement of policemen to the area.
Mr. Abubakar made this disclosure on his visit to the village on Thursday, saying he was visiting on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan. He was accompanies on the visit by Mr. Bashir Yuguda, the federal minister of state for works.
“We will join hands with the military and state security to ensure that we bring the perpetrators to book,” the police boss said during what he described also as a ‘fact-finding’ visit.
Mr. Bashir Yuguda also who appealed displaced people in the area to return to their homes as adequate security has now been provided.
He appealed to residents not to hesitate to report suspicious acts to authorities and law enforcement bodies. An Executive Secretary of the Zamfara EmergencyManagement Agency, Mr. Atiku Maradun, said that the Agency has been treating the wounded and attending to displaced persons by providing them with needs as mattresses, blankets and food items.
The delegation was received by the Emir of Tsafe, Alhaji Habibu Yandoto who took them round some of the burnt houses and shops. They also visited the home of the district head who was killed by the attackers.
