NOA sensitises over 300 students in Suleija on National Value Charter, Anthem

The  National Orientation Agency (NOA) has sensitised no few than 300 secondary school student in Suleija, Niger on National Value Charter and the National Anthen to enahance nationalism.

The Director-Generral of NOA,  Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu during his address on Wednesday in Suleija said moral decadence and other social vices have negative effects on the individual, family, society and nation at large.

“Socal vices like drug abuse, rape, cultism, indecent dressing and other forms of moral decadence usually affect students and their studies negatively, hence destroy their future.

“We are here to support you to concentrate on your education. Cultism is dangerous. If you are a cultist, then your family and friends are not safe. Don indulge in cultism, it will  not do you any good.

“A student that involve in drug abuse will become nusinance to his family and the society. Attitudes like  bullying,  examination malpractices, human trafficking, and others are not good.

“If you see something wrong, speak out, say something, so that it would be addressed, and the society will be a better place for everyone to live and achieve their future dreams.

“NOA is mandated to reorientate Nigerians on National Value Charter,  National Anthem and other core value values that is in chapter two, section 22 of the 1999 Comstitution as amended,”Issa-Onilu said.

The NOA boss, who was represented by the Director of Orientation and Bahaviourtal Modification, Mrs Tessy Nnalue hinted that the core values in the  constitution culminated to the initiation of the ‘National Identity Project’ also refer to as ‘7for7’

He explained that the ‘7for7’ is the seven promised by the government to the citizens and also, the seven citizen’s code which are expected obligations from the citizens to the government and country.

He said the seven promises by the government include, equality,  democracy,  entrepreneurship/employment, peace/security, inclusivoty, freedom/justice and Meritocracy.

Issa-Onilu added that the seven obligations expected from the citizens are Discipline, duty of care, tolerance/respect,  leadership,  transparency,  environmental awareness and resilience.

“NOA has strategies to propagate and sustain the  ‘7for7’. We have town hall meetings,  jingles, drama, information, education and communication materials among many others.

“We call on all of you here to be ambassadors of NOA to your schools, communities and families.  Pass on the messages and teaching you learnt from this programme,” Issa-Onilu said.

News Agencies of Nigeria reports that over 300 students and 25 teachers from different public and private schools in Suleija attended the programme. (NAN)
