
Ahead of the June 12 Democracy day celebration, the Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has deployed 500 personnel across the State to actively participate in the 2025 Democracy Day Celebration.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Buhari Sa’ad, in a release to journalists said the deployment is in line with the directives of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, emphasizing the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
Buhari stated also that the deployed personnel, comprising officers and men, will be stationed at strategic locations, including celebration venues, high-risk areas, and key points across all divisions and area commands.
“Their presence aims to deter potential security threats and ensure a crime-free celebration throughout the state”, Buhari added.
He said, Jibrin Idris, the NSCDC Gombe State Commandant, urged residents and visitors to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or security concerns to the nearest security agencies.
While emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the security agencies and the public in maintaining peace and security, Buhari expressed the State Commandant’s wishes to all citizens and residents for a happy Democracy Day celebration.
The Commandant encouraged everyone to participate in the festivities with joy and enthusiasm while maintaining a high level of security awareness regarding their surroundings.
Gombe is reported to be among some States across Nigeria where plans are underway for a peaceful protest against bad governance on 12th June, 2025, the day set aside to mark Democracy Day.
