“NUPENG not Responsible for the Present Fuel Scarcity” – Mr. Achese

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has attributed the ongoing scarcity of fuel across the country on a cabal

in the downstream sector.

The group said that tanker drivers were not on strike.

NUPENG, in a release yesterday, said its members were not responsible for the present shortage of petroleum products being experienced nationwide.

According to its president, Mr Igwe Achese, Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) branch of NUPENG are working and lifting products to the nooks and crannies of the country.

Achese said, “NUPENG is not responsible for the present shortage of petroleum products being experienced nationwide.

“Our members in the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, branch of NUPENG are working and lifting products to the nooks and crannies of the country.”

The statement further blamed the policy makers of the country for not adhering to its calls for the urgent need to rehabilitate the nation’s four refineries to get them working optimally.

NUPENG stated that the cabal in the downstream sector are at work sabotaging all efforts to make products available through revamping of the nation’s four refineries.

How Wike is planning to destroy PDP – Ex-minister Oyelese

An Ex-minister of Mines and Steel, Wole Oyelese has accused the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike of plotting to destroy the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP by supporting Uche Secondus for selfish reasons.

Secondus is currently vying for the National Chairmanship position of the party. Oyelese pointed out that Wike and some PDP governors are fighting to make sure Secondus emerges as Chairman.

He warned that party leaders and delegates should avoid patronizing Wike and other governors by ‘Imposing’ Secondus.

“I will not expect anybody that loves the PDP to support Secondus because of his past record but there is a difference between loving the party and being selfish.

Wike wants to build a political empire using the PDP as a platform, hence his support for Secondus. Some governors, who are also afraid of their shadows, believe that they cannot manipulate Chief Bode George and believe Secondus could easily be manipulated.

Wike and the other governors are unnecessarily anxious. They are not thinking about the future of the party. They should know that there is no room for experiment.”

Oyelese also challenged Secondus to come out with details of his achievements.
