Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) highest goal scorer Godwin Obaje is set to receive the Rashidi Yekini Foundation top scorer gong for the 2015/16
season at the 4th edition of the distinguished Gold Cup Pre-season Tournament billed to take place in Ijebu Ode.
Rashidi Yekini Foundation will present Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi goal poacher who emerged as the goal king in the concluded NPFL season with 18 goals at the Otunba Dipo Dina International stadium, Ijebu on Saturday, November 26, 2016.
The facilitator and founder of the foundation, Barrister Jibril Mohammed appreciated the organizers of the Gold Cup tourney for their support and stated that the enterprising forward would be presented a giant plaque and a cheque of 100,000 naira for his outstanding performance in the Nigerian league last season.
“Rashidi Yekini Highest Goalscorer has come to stay because this is the second edition of the annual award named after one of the most prolific goal scorer Africa ever produced in Nigeria, late Rashidi Yekini who died on the 4th of May 2012.
“We want to thank the organisers of the Gold Cup competition who has formed a synergy with us to make this year’s edition a reality after deliberating on so many factors, we deemed it fit to hold the presentation over there in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State because of Wikki Tourists involvement in the tournament and they are playing Lobi Stars of Markurdi,” he enthused.
The Chairman of the Bauchi-based side, Honourable Isa Matori will lead the families and friends of Obaje to the event on Saturday to receive the award on behalf of the football prodigy who is on trial at CSKA Moscow.
