Obasanjo Seeks Peace with President Jonathan

AFTER an unmitigated gaffe and reported endorsement of a northern candidate for the 2015 elections, former President Olusegun Obasanjo is said to be seeking ways of serving assurances to incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr. Obasanjo allegedly sought audience with the president on Tuesday evening at Pierre Hotel in New York, allegedly for the purpose of settling the embarrassing endorsement said to have been given to a particular northern presidential aspirant.

Sources also anonymously disclosed that Obasanjo came into the hotel in the veneing and assured Jonathan of his good intentions. But the relationship between Jonathan and his godfather remains “tense and on high alert”, according to the same sources.

One of the sources said that “the president thinks Mr. Obasanjo is playing God.”

The demon that dogs Obasanjo as a serpentine character who would betray anyone, including his own mother” has popped-up again, said another source, while opining that it would be difficult for the two feuding big men to earn each other’s trust anymore.

“I can tell you that Oga feels betrayed by a man he thought he could count on as a father,” said one of the sources who offered an insight into the attitude of Jonathan.

Although it was alleged that Obsanjo had wanted some individuals to be present at the meeting with Jonathan, many of those he wanted politely came up with one reason or the other to stay away from the meeting.

“Well, no one wants to be caught in the crossfire between the two big men,” explained one individual who tactfully avoided being present at the meeting. Just exactly what Obasanjo came to tell Jonathan in New York remains a mystery.
