Obaseki Dumps APC

By Dayo Omoogun

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Noghegase Obaseki has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress

on whose ticket he came to power as governor in 2016.
He personally made the announcement Tuesday while speaking with press men at the Presiential Villa. He had gone to pay a visit to President Muhammad Buhari.
It is no longer news that barely half way into his tenure, he fell out with his benefactor, the former governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and they have been at each other’s throats ever since culminating in his disqualification from the party’s primaries last weekend.

He did not disclose his next berthing point but his recent shuttle to Wike, the PDP governor of Rivers State and some other People’s Democratic Party big wigs suggests he may be headed to the party.

Meanwhile, the APC says it has no record of Obaseki’s defection. Responding to media enquiries, Lanre Issa Onilu, the National Publicity Secretary of the party said “The party has no record of the reported defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the Progressive party. We cannot comment at this moment on media reports suggesting the Edo governor or anyone else has left our great party.”
