…ask Ize-Iyamu, APC to accept the verdict of the election
Market women in Edo State have lauded the Federal High Court, Abuja’s dismissal of the certificate forgery case brought against Governor Godwin Obaseki by the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the court’s ruling as a validation of the overwhelming mandate bestowed on the governor by Edo people.
In his judgement, Honourable Justice Adamu Mohammed said the plaintiffs failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt that the first defendant, (Mr. Obaseki) forged his certificates, noting, “Allegation of forgery borders on crime which must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
Honourable Justice Mohammed added, “Having thoroughly analysed the evidence of this case, it is the conclusion of this court that the plaintiff did not forge his O’Level Certificate, his HSC certificate, and particularly his University of Ibadan degree certificate. Accordingly, the plaintiffs’ case is dismissed.”
Traders in Edaiken Market who hailed the judgement urged the Edo State Chapter of the APC and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to accept the choice of the majority of Edo people who voted for Governor Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu to run the affairs of the state for another four years in office.
The traders also urged the National Leader of the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari to call the leaders of the APC in Edo State to order to allow the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to focus on consolidating on his administration’s reforms to Make Edo State Great Again.
Mrs. Esther Irabor, a trader in Edaiken Market, said, “I am excited over the news of the dismissal of the certificate forgery case against our governor. Even before casting our votes for Governor Obaseki, we were fully convinced that the governor was duly qualified for the Office of Governor with the statements from the University of Ibadan and the Alumni Body of the institution. We urged the leaders of the APC to accept the choice of Edo people. You can feel the pulse in the market yesterday after the news of the dismissal of the case by the Abuja High Court.
Another trader who operates a local restaurant, Rosemary Okosodo, said that the Abuja High Court judgment on the certificate forgery case against Governor Obaseki is an attestation of the divine mandate Edo people gave to the governor at the Governorship Poll on September 19, 2020.
“Right from the onset, I knew that the Edo APC had no case against the governor. In the past four years, we have seen how Governor Godwin Obaseki’s approach to governance was a departure from the old order especially with his sectoral reforms and the way he managed the first wave of coronavirus (COVID-19) without hurting businesses. Someone without a certificate can’t bring such class to governance.”
“I want Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the APC in Edo State and their leaders to allow the governor focus on the challenges confronting the state,” she added.
