Obaseki, Shuaibu Sworn in for Second Term

By Dayo Omoogun

The second term of the Edo State Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and his deputy Philip Shuaibu commenced on Thursday

following his swearing-in and inauguration in Benin City, the State Capital yesterday.

The path to yesterday’s inauguration has been a tortuous one as the duo have to fight the political battle of their lives against several power brokers in the state especially the former governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Present at the inauguration ceremony yesterday were PDP governors such as Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Duoye Diri of Delta,. Rivers and Bayelsa states respectively.

The PDP Chairman Uche Secondus as well as former Minister of Works under the Jonathan regime, Architect Mike Onolemenme we’re also in attendance.

It will be recalled that Obaseki and his deputy had to defect from the APC to the PDP in the heat of the acrimony and recriminations generated between the pro-Obaseki and pro-Oshiomhole forces within the APC.
