Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday in his Abeokuta home, fired a bombshell which no doubt took the Muhammadu Buhari led APC administration below the belt over the parlous state of affairs across the across the land.
The presidency Sharpedgenews online learnt is not happy over the vitriolic statement, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, however dismissed the statement as non issue to carry impact on the political psyche.
In a letter reminiscent of the notes done to former military junta, Major General Sani Abacha (retired) which sent behind bars and followed by another to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Obasanjo who poured vituperation expressed concern on the escalating insecurity across the country, the unending suffering of Nigerians exacerbated by the long queue for fuel among others.
While advising Buhari, not run for a second, he dismissed the opposition PDP as equally unfit to take Nigeria to the promised land, stressing that Buhari should with dignity and honour dismount from the high horse of leadership.
According to him, Buhari is being distracted through engaging in blame game rather than steering the ship of governance.
In the release with title: The way out, a clarion call for coalition for Nigeria movement, Obasanjo said: “The lice of poor performance in government, poverty, insecurity , poor economic management, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, condoning of misdeed, if not outright encouragement of it, lack of progress and hope for the future
“The lack of national cohesion and poor management of internal dynamics and widening inequality, are very much with us today.”
On the way out of the leadership lethargy, he said: “We need a coalition for Nigeria, such a movement at this juncture needs not be a political party but one to which all well meaning Nigerians can belong belong.”
According to him, the movement must be a coalition for democracy, good governance, social and economic well being and progress, adding that it must be a rainbow coalition to rescue our country.”
While the statement has sent ripples among the political class, Sharpedgenews online learnt that realignment and meeting of bedfellows have started discussion ostensibly towards the new dawn.END
