Odegbola Traditional Global Services Teams Up With Osemeji Ibadan Foundation For The 2025 ‘Osemeji Obamoro’ Festival

Odegbola Traditional Global Services, in collaboration with the Osemeji Ibadan Foundation, has announced the 2025 edition of the Osemeji Obamoro Festival.

This annual event is dedicated to celebrating and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Yorubaland, with a specific focus on the historical and spiritual significance of Osemeji in the founding of Ibadan.

The festival which commenced on February 23rd, 2025, will feature various activities, including a public lecture scheduled for March 11th, 2025, at the Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

According to a press release by Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola II, Àràbà Olu Ìṣẹ̀ṣe of Ibadan land,
and host of the event, this year’s festival aims to deepen understanding of Osemeji’s role in Yoruba history and also Ibadan in particular.

The lecture will be delivered by Araba Yemi Elebuibon, a renowned Ifa priest and cultural advocate.

Araba Odegbola emphasized that Osemeji, an important Odu Ifa (Ifa divination verse), played a pivotal role in predicting Ibadan’s gradual growth and prosperity.

He explained that the metaphor of a snail unfolding slowly yet steadily reflects the city’s historical development.

The festival will also host distinguished guests, including Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, as the Guest of Honour.

Additionally, Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole, President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), will serve as the Chief Host.

Other notable guests include Babalawo Awodele Ogundare, President of the Osemeji Ibadan Foundation and host of others.

This celebration not only highlights Ibadan’s cultural roots but also reinforces its identity as a city deeply connected to Yoruba spirituality and tradition.
