Ogun PDP: Kashamu’s Group Dares Makarfi Over Dissolution

…says Exco remains till 2020

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun on Thursday rejected the dissolution of its State Executive Committee by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee.
The state exco, believed to be backed by Senator Buruji Kashamu, insisted that its tenure remained valid till 2020.
The party in the state also warned that any plan to dissolve its exco before the year 2020 would amount to an illegality, impunity and contempt of court.
The NCC had at the last Saturday’s National Convention of the party in Abuja dissolved the excos in Ogun and six other states across the country.
But speaking at a press conference at the party state secretariat in Abeokuta, the State Chairman, Chief Adebayo Dayo, described the reported dissolution of the state exco by the caretaker committee as a mere rumour.
Dayo maintained that it was rather the exco of the faction led by the former chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Sikirulahi Ogundele, and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, that was dissolved, noting that his exco remained the authentic one for the. PDP in the state
He, therefore, urged the Markafi-led caretaker committee not to allow itself to be used by anti- democratic elements seeking to hijack the party structures in Ogun and other southwest states.
He said, “There cannot be fresh congresses in the state until 2020, neither can any caretaker committee be set up for the same purpose. Attempting to do so amount to illegality, impunity and contempt of court.
“Just like the National Caretaker Committee did till it got its own permanent victory, we are going to fully test this case to the highest level of judicial intervention. In our thinking, it is the Ogundele impostor group that was dissolved, not us.
”I urged you all not to regard any other proposed contraption they plan to come up with .For now , nothing has changed and the party executives at all levels in Ogun State under my leadership remain constitutionally valid and judicially sacrosanct till 2020.
“I say this advisedly because we have observed that a section of the media, especially in Ogun State, erroneously accorded recognition to the dissident group in our party led by Sikirulahi Ogundele and Ladi Adebutu.”
The state PDP factional chairman also alleged that at no time was Ogundele the chairman of the party in Ogun “because he never emerged from any  congress of the party.”
