-Challenges ACN to Substantiate Report
The Chairman of the Labour Party in Idanre, Ondo State, Kola Akinboyejo has described “as shameful and the height of desperation to create a false impression” a news report that 2,000 leaders and supporters of his Party in the area have defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria.
A national newspaper owned by a leader of the ACN, The Nation, reported yesterday that over 2,000 members of the Labour party had defected to the rival party earlier in the week.
Reacting to the report through a statement in Akure the state capital yesterday, Kola Akinboyejo said the report and many of such that the newspaper has been publishing in recent times clearly showed that the ACN lacks integrity and wonder why a party that claim to be popular would have to resort to blatant lies before it could be seen to enjoy large followership.
The Chairman who is popularly known as Hero thus challenged the ACN to produce the video or publish the photograph of the event where his members in Idanre and environs decamped since they have the facility to do so at no cost.
“The ACN people are only hallucinating, i challenge them to produce the video of the event where our members decamped to their party or publish the event where the fictitious names they publish actually did what they claim.
“The ACN cannot continue to feed people with lies simply because they want power. The people they are lying to are recording these things and they are making up their minds against them the more.”
The Chairman reiterated that each time members of the ACN and other members of opposition decamped to the Labour party, there are always documents to show , he thus asked the ACN to prove their claim and produce evidence of people decamping to the ACN from the Labour party.
Warning the public against the fraudulent tendencies of the ACN, the chairman said “it is high time people know that the ACN feeds on propaganda and since they could not succeed with that in Ondo state, they have resulted to outright falsehood and this is a dangerous trend in our state.
“Ondo people are people of integrity and credibility, we should be wary of selfish characters in our midst. No foreigner can love us more than ourselves. They could only have gone to the extent of spreading falsehood for selfish reasons” the chairman remarked.
