Oshiomhole Suspension: Abiola Ajimobi To Act As APC Chairman

Following the Appeal Court decision of yesterday, the All Progressives Congress has, in a swift reaction, announced that Senator Abiola Ajimobi,

the immediate past governor of Oyo State who is the Deputy Chairman(South) of the party, is to take over the reins of leadership pending the final determination of the suit.
This is contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party Mr. Lanre Issa –Onilu which was made available to the media in the early hours of Wednesday (today).

In the statement where the National Working Committee of the party acknowledged receipt of the news of the suspension order on its chairman, it explained that it was being guided into taking the action by the provisions of its constitution.

“Guided by advice from the Party’s legal department in line with the provisions of Section 14.2. (iii) of the Party’s constitution, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Sen. Abiola Ajimobi will serve as the Party’s Acting National Chairman.”

“According to Section 14.2. (iii),of the APC constitution, the Deputy National Chairman, North/South “Shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone”.
