Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday chaired a meeting on job creation using agriculture and agriculture value-chain, with governors of Jigawa
and Kebbi States in attendance.
The meeting held at the office of the Vice-president, who charged the governors to do more to support the efforts of the Federal Government.
Emerging from the meeting, Jigawa governor, Badaru, said it focused on “how we will mobilize youths to go into agriculture and agricultural services including production, retailing and wholesale.
“There is a new decision that states should endeavor to support the Federal Government, or in partnership with the Federal Government in empowerment, helping the youths in agriculture and agriculture value chain.”
Similarly, Kebbi Governor, Abubakar Bagudu, said the potential of job creation through agriculture could not be ignored at this time, which was why the meeting stressed the need to have more hands on deck.
“The potential of agriculture has been recognized land and people are in the states. Partnership between the Federal and state government will do more and that has been recognized.
