Osinbajo tasks State Governors to create more Jobs via Agriculture

Vice-president Yemi Osinba­jo on Tuesday chaired a meeting on job creation using agri­culture and agriculture value-chain, with gover­nors of Jigawa

and Kebbi States in attendance.

The meeting held at the office of the Vice-president, who charged the governors to do more to support the ef­forts of the Federal Government.

Emerging from the meeting, Jigawa gov­ernor, Badaru, said it focused on “how we will mobilize youths to go into agriculture and agricultural services including production, retailing and wholesale.

“There is a new deci­sion that states should endeavor to support the Federal Govern­ment, or in partnership with the Federal Gov­ernment in empower­ment, helping the youths in agriculture and agri­culture value chain.”

Similarly, Kebbi Gov­ernor, Abubakar Bagu­du, said the potential of job creation through ag­riculture could not be ig­nored at this time, which was why the meeting stressed the need to have more hands on deck.

“The potential of agri­culture has been recognized land and people are in the states. Partner­ship between the Federal and state government will do more and that has been recognized.
