Heads of traditional religion worshippers in Oyo state have congratulated Engineer Seyi Makinde on his re-election as the Governor of Oyo State for another four years term.
The traditional religion worshippers in a press statement signed by Araba Oluisese Isese of Ibadanland and Chairman Heads of Traditional Religion in Oyo State, Chief Ifálérè Odegbemi Odegbola II, congratulated the governor on his second term victory as the governor of the Pacesetter state.
According to him, the governor has once again broken the jinx after late Ajimobi that another Governor can rule Oyo State twice.
“On behalf of heads of traditional religion and the entire traditional religion worshippers who joined others to cast their votes for you in Oyo state gubernatorial election, we want to congratulate you and wish you a successful second term in office. We have no doubt in our minds that you will consolidate on the achievements you recorded during your first term in office.”
The traditional worshippers also called on the Governor to set aside August 20 of each year as public holiday for all traditional religion worshippers in the State.
“Since you emerged Governor of Oyo state and even during your first term in office, we have written to you and made several attempts to see you regarding the needs to set aside August 20 of each year as traditional worshippers public holiday (Isese day) to no avail. We believe you’re a Governor of the people irrespective of status, religion and others, we are calling on you once again to consider public holiday for traditional religion worshippers. We all voted for you because we believe in you. We believe we can achieve this under you as Governor.”
Also speaking on the composition of the State Traditional Medicine Board, Araba of Ibadanland appealed to the Governor to allow a traditionalist to head it rather than appointing a Christian or Muslim as the head of board in Oyo State.
Araba of Ibadanland also called on the commissioner of police in Oyo state to call his men to order over incessant harrassment of Ifa religion worshippers in the state.”
We are using this medium once again to appeal to the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State to as a matter of urgency call his men to order over incessant harassment and intimidation of members of Ifa religion worshippers in the State.
