PDP Holds Fashola and ACN Responsible for Thousands of Dying Patients

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest has berated the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and his party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) for the crisis in the State health sector, saying; “Fashola and his party must answer for the blood of Lagosians that are dying daily as a result of
sack of 788 striking doctors in the State.”

Speaking through its Zonal Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Lere Olayinka, the PDP said “the doctors strike and their eventual sack by the Fashola-led ACN government has also exposed the lies of the Lagos State government as regards provision of health care facilities in the State.”

The party said; “Even though thousands of patients have died as a result of the crisis, it is important to note that the casualties would have been higher if government owned health institutions were to be responsible for the provision of health care services to 50 percent of Lagosians.

“That there is no outbreak of epidemic and patients are not dying in hundred of thousands yet is because Lagosians don’t rely on government health institutions in the first instance. They patronise private hospitals because the existing government health institutions cannot cater for up to 10 percent of the people.

“The question to be asked therefore is; where is all the over N30 billion that Lagos State gets monthly going to?”

While berating the ACN for supporting the doctor’s sack, PDP said it was inhuman, wicked and tyrannical for anyone to support a government decision that is sending hundreds of Lagosians to the grave on a daily basis just because of party affiliation.”

“Last Friday, ACN National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu travelled to London for medical check up.  Yet, the party is supporting Fashola’s inhuman action, which is killing the poor masses of Lagos State.

“Isn’t it now obvious that ACN is comfortable with the crisis in the Lagos State health sector because Tinubu, its sole-proprietor and other leaders of the party do not need Nigerian doctors and hospitals to get medical treatments?

“Once again, the ACN and its functionaries have demonstrated their contempt for the welfare of the people, and that they are worse than military dictators.”
