LEADERS of the Peoples Democratic Party in southwestern Nigeria resolved on Tuesday to continue their
clamor for equitable distribution of appointments by pressuring the presidency to look into the issue.
Meeting under the auspices of the Board of Trustees, members in the zone empowered the trustees under the leadership of former National Deputy Chairman, Chief Bode George, to continue the interface with the presidency on the issue.
A communique issued at the end of the meeting, held in Lagos, revealed that the leaders endorsed the actions taken by the National leadership of the party to reposition the party in order to overcome its challenges.
The meeting also endorsed the decision of the NEC to retain the zoning of leadership positions in the Zone and National Working Committee in the present areas and the disqualification of caretaker committee members or interim officers from contesting in the forthcoming elections in the party.
The leaders were made up of trustees, former ministers, serving and past chairmen of state chapters, former senators and house of representatives members, governorship hopefuls from all the states, enjoined each state leaders to encourage only candidates,with experience, integrity and loyalty to party ideals to contest for the positions
They party stalwarts urged party faithful to embrace unity and peace so that the party could win the coming elections in Ekiti and Osun.
