The Permanent Secretary, Service Policy and Strategy Office, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole has called on African youths to help rid the continent of drug abuse so as to ensure the security of the continent.
Dr. Meribole made the call when he was conferred with the Pan African Leadership Prize of Excellence by Pan African Students Movement in his office in Abuja on Monday 19th April 2021.
He urged knowledgeable youths to lead the fight against drug abuse and addiction as majority of drug addicts are lettered people.
According to him, the rampant abuse of unwholesome drugs by youths was majorly responsible for the insecurity prevalent on the continent.
He commended the movement for its exchange programmes which he said would help in harnessing their creativity, ideas and talents for the benefits of Africa.
Earlier the President of the Association Mr. Kewul Suleh said the Organisation is a Pan Africanist Movement set up to reactivate the concept of Pan Africanism and help in campaigning against drug abuse which had eaten deep into the fabrics of Africa.
He said the movement deemed it fit to honour Dr. Meribole because of his remarkable contribution to the Public Service.
Suleh eulogized Meribole as a leader who thinks of the upcoming generation, adding that the movement appreciates his hardwork and dedication to service.
In his vote of thanks, the Director of Organisation Design and Development (ODD), in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Ben Omogo said Dr. Meribole is the 6th Permanent Secretary he had worked with and attested to his integrity and noble leadership qualities.
He commended the Youth Movement for undertaking a diligent study of the service as a whole and deeming it fit to honour the Permanent Secretary.
This recognition has taught me to work with a sense of purpose knowing fully well that people are watching, he concluded.
