After about about 14 months, the Police on Thursday in Abuja eventually paraded three suspects: Ibrahim Aminu, Saadi Abubakar
and Oche Ellah for allegedly conspiring to kill Mrs. Rasheedat Jimoh, in cold blood in Ilorin, Kwara.
CSP, Aremu Adeniran, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, in a statement said Aminu, the principal suspect who shot Jimoh bought the pistol from Abubakar, who also said that he purchased the pistol from Ellah for N50, 000.
The statement read: “On the 7th of July, 2017 at about 10 PM at No. 2, Jimoh Bolanta Street, Kulende Ilorin, Kwara State, the principal suspect and other suspects yet to be arrested armed with Barreta pistol stormed the shop of the deceased, Mrs. Jimoh, shot and killed her in the presence of her daughter and house help, robbed them of cash and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
“The deceased was confirmed dead from the bullet wound sustained from the gunshot, on her way to the Hospital.
According to Adeniran, the IGP, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, immediately directed the Special Tactical Squad and Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to conduct a discreet investigation into the incident surrounding the assassination of the innocent woman to arrest and bring perpetrators to justice.
He said: “The joint IGP-IRT and STS teams eventually arrested one Ibrahim Aminu, a native of Shagari Village, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State and recovered in his possession a Barreta Pistol with 19 Rounds of Live ammunition.
During interrogation, Aminu, admitted killing the deceased, who led police to arrest Abubakar, a native of Funtua LGA of Katsina State and Ellah a native of Otukpo LGA of Benue State.
“Abubakar from Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State during investigation confessed and admitted to be the owner of the pistol which he bought at the rate N60,000, Ellah and gave to Aminu, the principal suspect for criminal activities.
“Ellah from Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State confessed and admitted to have sold the pistol to Abubakar N50,000.00 and not N60,000, as claimed by Abubakar.
“Ellah also admitted that he bought the said pistol at Yongo village in Benue State through one Ugbede who is still at large.” The statement added.
Adeniran said investigation is ongoing and efforts being intensified to arrest other suspects still at large, added that all the suspects will all be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
