Police Struggle to Unravel Culprits in Murder of Popular LASU Student

THREE days after he was gunned-down in broad daylight in Lagos, the killers of Damilola Olaniyan, a 400 level student of the Lagos State University, have yet to be identified or apprehended by law enforcement.

Olaniyan was murdered yesterday by suspected cult members of the institution.

The murder may turn into another endless maze for the police to investigate as the force says witnesses have failed to volunteer information to it.

Sources in the police say the body of the student, who was also known in show business circles as Damino Damoche, was deposited at a Badagry morgue after it was removed from the scene of the crime in front of the university’s Ojo Campus gate.

The source also disclosed that the family of the deceased has asked to be allowed to take away his body, but that the request has yet to be granted.

Following Damilola’s shooting yesterday, some members of his Eiye Confraternity threatened payback.

Some eyewitnesses said Damoche was killed with three gun shots, two into his head and one into his ribs blasting through his left hand. The final year student died on the spot in an attack said to be a reprisal by a rival cult on campus.
