President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has written to felicitate with legendary Juju musician, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi on the occasion of his 70th birthday today, April 3, 2012.
President Jonathan said that the famous musician’s life was “genuinely worthy of celebration” as his songs will remain evergreen in the memories of generations of Nigerians who will always cherish their enjoyment of the songs and the profundity of thought which they evoked.
“It is with utmost pleasure that I write to convey, on behalf of my family, the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, our warm felicitations to you on the landmark occasion of your 70th birthday anniversary.
“Yours is truly a life genuinely worthy of celebration. Right from the formation of your first band at the age of 22, you diligently pursued creative and productive excellence in your chosen musical career. It was no surprise, therefore, that within only a few years, yours had become one of the most easily recognizable names across the length and breadth of our nation, and beyond.
“Your songs remain evergreen in the hearts of generations of Nigerians who will always cherish the twin emotions of blissful enjoyment and profundity of thought which they evoked.
“Your venture into full-time evangelism and propagation of the Word through music has been accomplished with the same degree of uncompromising commitment to professional excellence,” President Jonathan wrote.
The President prayed that God Almighty will continue to bless Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi’s work, and grant him good health as well as many more years of fulfillment.
He wished the “Chief Commander” happy birthday celebrations.
