The West African Examinations Council has once again extended the closing date for its 2020 Second Series of the School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates.
The Council had earlier extended from the original scheduled date to Friday, 6th November,2020 but has again announced another week of grace.
In a notice on its tweeter handle on Thursday, the academic assessment body disclosed that the new closing date for the examination is now Friday 13th November, 2020.
The tweet read : “WASSCE FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATES, 2020 – SECOND SERIES: FURTHER EXTENSION OF REGISTRATION PERIOD
Intending candidates should note that there has been a further extension of the registration period to Friday, November 13, 2020.”
The exam, more popularly known as WAEC GCE, opened for registration on June 10, 2020 and was originally scheduled to close on August 28,2020 but has had to be rescheduled twice.
The series of extensions are a fallout of the lockdowns provoked by the Corona Virus pandemic and the recent #EndSARS protests which unfortunately got hijacked by hoodlums leading to wanton destruction of public and private property and killings which eventually culminated in curfews being imposed by many states across the federation. This affected the operations of the Council in no small measure and even resulted in a one week delay of the results of its last Secondary School Exams.
