REPORTS: First Lady Jonathan’s Mom Dies in Deadly Road Accident

FIRST Lady Patience Jonathan’s mother may have been involved in a fatal motor accident along the East-West

Road near Port Harcourt in Rivers State.

Mrs. Iwari-Oba was said to have been on her way to the neighboring Bayelsa State when the accident that reportedly took her life occurred.

Unconfirmed reports say that a relative of First Lady Jonathan, Mr. Evans Bipi, was on hand to take the body of the first lady’s mother to a hospital mortuary in Kpaiyama.

Mr. Bipi, a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Ogu Bolo constituency, was one of the lawmakers involved in the recent fracas in the House. Mr. Bipi’s personal aide, Fred Itoho, confirmed the death of the first lady’s mother and Mr. Bipi’s involvement in retrieving her body and depositing it at the morgue.

“Yes! She was involved in an accident and she died. Her body has been taken to a mortuary. Bipi was among those who took her body to the mortuary,” Itobo said.

Police authorities and officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission in Rivers State have been unable to confirm this incident, leaving Mr. Bipi’s personal aide as the only established source of information on this accident so far.

Efforts to reach the information commissioner in the state, Ms. Ibim Semenitari, have also not yielded positive results.
