NATIONAL Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Segun Oni has warned that; “henceforth, no member of the party in the zone must speak evil of the party and its members in the media, and no member should also go to court against the party.”
Oni’s Media Aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka said in a statement issued today that; the Zonal Chairman, who was speaking during a meeting with members of the party in Lagos yesterday, said; “Time has come to instill discipline in this party and we are not going allow a situation where our members attack themselves and the party on the pages of newspapers.”
“The level of resources, (both human and financial) that we deploy into fighting ourselves is such that one begins to wonder why we can’t channel the resources into the upliftment of our party.
“For instance, one is worried that it is always easy for us to raise fund to abuse ourselves in the media. But when it comes to promoting the party and its interests, the same people who were able to raise fund to promote internal crisis in the party will not be available. Why?
“We have therefore ruled that henceforth, no PDP member must speak evil of the party or party members in the media. No member should also go to court against the party.
“From now on, the Southwest PDP will regard such actions as an act of aggression against the party and appropriate disciplinary actions will be applied.
“Instead of going to court or the press, whoever that is aggrieved should complain to us and we assure that we will attend to all complaints and do justice without fear or favour. This is a promise and our members should trust that we will keep it.
“Therefore, all our party members in the Southwest must take note of this and comply accordingly because this is a directive we are going to enforce strictly and from now, we will monitor our members’ utterances in the media to ascertain their compliance,” Oni said.
