to handle National team, Super Eagles as the team handler, Mr. Sunday Oliseh, tendered his resignation papers and walked off the job earlier same day.

Samson Siasia, a favourite of former President Goodluck Jonathan was discarded and unfairly criticized by the country’s NFF and millions of armchair soccer critics who hardly tolerate low moments of excellence in soccer dexterity, but he soon find favour as he was named the new coach of Super Eagles moments after his former team mate, Sunday Oliseh resigned from the job.

Sunday Oliseh rode into the eye of the storm last month as he lost his cool and lashed at Nigerians through a YouTube video which he later said he regretted.

NFF’s spokesman, Ademola Olajire said that Oliseh had been reprimanded by Minister of Sports and the Chairman of NFF in the hope that he would hang on to see the Super Eagles through the next two crucial games.

Describing Oliseh’s surprise resignation during an interview in Abuja with the Nigeria Television Authority,  Olajire said it is “Good riddance to bad rubbish, he is not the kind of person we thought he was.

Olajire said the NFF only heard of the resignation in the media as the coach was yet to send in any letter to that effect.

The NFF spokesperson said he was in touch with the President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick, and other top officials of the Federation, who are currently in Zurich for FIFA special congress.

“I cannot tell you what exactly they will do, but I can tell you that we will empanel a new set of technical hands for the team. And whatever Oliseh has mishandled in his few months in charge, they will have to right.”
