PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) National Vice-Chairman (South-West), Chief Segun Oni has eulogised the matriarch of the Awolowo dynasty and the Yeye Oodua of Yorubaland, Chief Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, as she clocked 97 today, describing her as “the real conscience and mother of the Yoruba Nation.”
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Lere Olayinka, the PDP National Vice-Chairman, who also described Mama HID Awolowo as a “pride to the entire Yoruba race,” said her husband, late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was right to have described her as a jewel of inestimable value.
“On behalf of members and supporters of our party, the PDP, I congratulate our mother and conscience of the Yoruba nation, Mama HID Awolowo on the attainment of 97 years.
“No doubt, the attainment of this age by Mama is a confirmation of the grace the Almighty God has bestowed on her and it is our prayer that God in His infinite mercies will grant Mama many more years in good health.
“Mama is a no doubt a pride to the entire Yoruba race and we that are genuine followers of Baba Awolowo will continue to revere her because she is more than a jewel to us,” Oni said.
