A RECONSTITUTION of the federal cabinet in Abuja may be imminent, if feelers at the country’s seat of power are anything to go by.
Expected to take place anytime from January 1st, it is seen as a move to protect the image of the Jonathan Administration amid the myriad of challenges it is facing.
Sources close to the government hinted to sharpedgenews.com that what is expected may be a major cabinet reshuffle which is likely to see a few ministers lose their positions as cabinet members.
Of particular note is the nation’s Attorney-General and Justice Minister, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke, who the government is eager to let go following actions or inactions by the minister that the government believes had undermined its goals.
Sharpedgenews.com reported exclusively in October this year that Mr. Adoke was on the verge of losing his membership of the Jonathan cabinet.
In the meantime, the justice minister has been making moves to prevent the looming action., even as important persons in and outside of government avoid him.
A discussion with Mrs. Clinton slated to hold at the residence of the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Ssasasa Ssasaasasa, was cancled with no explanation.
“It was a diplomatic rebuff” from the US administration for Adoke’s compromising attitude on Nigeria’s war on crimes and narcotic trade, said the source of this news story.
Last year, President Jonathan used the occasion of his new year address to announce his government’s decision to end the subsidy of petrol in Nigeria. Observers are keen to see if the president will also use the occasion of the 2013 version of the same address to announce the reshuffling of his cabinet.
