South-West PDP Berates ACN Over Call for Tukur’s Resignation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West has described as “stupid, nonsensical, reckless and hypocritical” call by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) for the resignation of PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur over the indictment of his son, Mahmud in the Oil Subsidy scam.

The party said the ACN should first remove the logs in its eyes before seeking to remove the toothpicks in other peoples eyes, adding that; “it is an insult for a party of money launders, ex-convicts, certificates and identity forgers like the ACN to be sermonising about morals.”

PDP Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kayode Babade said it was laughable that the ACN that kept silent over the trial of the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who is standing trial before a Federal High Court in Lagos for stealing and laundering N500 million, can be asking the PDP National Chairman to resign just because his son is facing trial.

“As at today, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assemble, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who is standing trial for alleged stealing and laundering of N500 million still preside over the affairs of the House. The moral sheriffs in the ACN have not deemed it necessary to ask the Speaker to resign or step aside until the conclusion of his criminal trial.

“Also, the ACN has not said anything about the conviction of the House of Representatives Minority Leader, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila by the Sureme Court of Georgia, United States of America for defrauding his client of $25,000.

“In their display of hypocrisy too, they chose not to react to reports that the ACN Vice Presidential candidate, Fola Adeola is the chairman of Eternal Oil, the company where Mahmud Tukur is the Managing Director?

“Yet, these bunch of hypocrites in the ACN are not ashamed to canvass the resignation of a man, whose son is facing trial for a fraud.

“Is Mahmud Tukur not an adult? Is he not a different person from Bamanga Tukur, his father? Can the sin of a son, who is an adult be visited on his father? Or isn’t it even in the Holy Book, Deuteronomy 24:16 that ‘the father shall not be put to death for his children and the children for fathers, every man shall be put to death for his own sin?’

“Most importantly, if a man must resign from office because his son is facing trial, what should the ACN Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikuforiji who himself is facing trial do? Should he be thrown into hell fire?

“It is obvious that the hypocrisy of the ACN has graduated from the ridiculous to the bizarre level and time has come for the party and its lying leaders to be told that Nigerians are no longer buying into their lies and holier than the Pope posture,” Babade said.
