Prior to their abysmal political malfunction in Ondo State, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) through its ‘jagabondage’ leadership headed by the Former Governor of Lagos, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore that the party would use everything within its power to prevent the wishes of Ondo State people from coming into reality in the October 20 gubernatorial election in Ondo.
The ACN’s imperial majesty who has always had his ways in the past met a brickwall in Ondo State where, the people refused to join the bandwagon of already colonized states in the Southwest by rejecting the ACN’s pseudo-progressives. Even though Tinubu and his retinue of comrades in the act of brigandage employed many unholy methods to prevent the wishes of Ondo state people from coming into reality, the wish of God prevailed over the wish of one man who has become a sort of mini-God to ignoramus
individuals in the Action Congress of Nigeria. To them, Tinubu’s power can only be substituted to that of God because most of them have become beneficiaries of Tinubu’s dirty politics.
Unfortunately, the once vibrant Alliance for Democracy which metamorphosed into Action Congress of Nigeria has become a one-man party. A party that is being controlled by the whim and caprice of Tinubu. The few enlightened members of the party who could have confronted or at least oppose Tinubu’s autocracy are afraid. In their distorted reasoning, they have at one time or the other being beneficiaries of Tinubu’s political antic and must not question his divisive decisions.
Even though Tinubu’s stance negates the principle of any civilized society, majority of the so-called progressives in the Action Congress of Nigeria do not see it that way. That is why each time Tinubu imposes a candidate on them; they accept it hook, line and sinker without any visible opposition. If you ask the Action Congress of Nigeria about Internal democracy- you are asking them the impossible.
Perhaps if internal democracy was allowed to operate in Ondo state prior to the October 20 governorship election; the party would have performed well than its shameful outing in Ondo state.
The good people of Ondo state refused to join the bandwagon of CAN colonized states in the southwest by voting for Olusegun Mimiko. The people from Sunshine state who could not be deceived by the issue of Southwest Integration also resisted being part of the ‘Jagabongade’ states that will be taking order from Lagos state like it is the case
with other states in the region.
Action Congress of Nigeria no doubt claims to be a party that parades all progressive elements in Nigeria, but the gritty truth is that the party is mainly a crowd of elite prostitutes who are using the name of the Late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo to score cheap political point and also garner sympathy from the people of Southwest. Their
composition is that of idiosyncratic charlatans whose trade is deceit.
Ask them the amount of taxpayers’ money they extended to overthrow Mimiko in Ondo state. Also ask them if they did it for the people or for themselves? Now that it is obvious that the Action Congress of Nigeria has lost Ondo governorship election-what will Aregbesola, Tinubu’s patriot missile who vowed to use everything within his power to unseat Mimiko do now? Is Action Congress of Nigeria going to begin another legal
tussle with taxpayers’ money like it used to do even though the election has been adjudged free and fair? Or they will continue the campaign of calumny they are known for?
The abysmal failure of the Action Congress of Nigeria to win Ondo governorship election has shown that the party and its leadership are losing popularity in the Southwest. People are beginning to understand the fact the party cannot take the Southwest to the Promised Land.
Lastly, Governor Olusegun Mimiko should count himself lucky to be re-elected as the governor of the Sunshine state. He should use his second term in office to consolidate and continue on the good works he has started and avoid the non-performance syndrome associated with second term in office.
