The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, says, President Bola Tinubu’s bold reforms from May 29, 2023 has instigated massive developments in different sectors of the country.

Idris stated this during his remarks at the 2025 Dinner Party Party for All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups on Friday night in Abuja.

According to him, the APC remains a party founded on courage, reform and on a clear sense of purpose.

“We came into government at a most trying moment in our nation’s history; a situation that call for confronting long-standing challenges with bold decisions for the best interest of Nigeria and the future generation.

“Under the visionary leadership of President Tinubu, the administration has taken decisive steps to stabilise the economy, restore fiscal discipline and reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth.

“From far-reaching economic reforms to renewed efforts at strengthening national security and infrastructure development, the Thinibu administration is laying a solid foundation for the long-term prosperity of our country.

“Before May 2023, about 27 states in this country were unable to pay salaries to their workers. Today, all of them have funding, enough for them to embark on very critical developmental projects across their states.

“Today, no governor can say, he is unable to pay worker’s salary. All of them are getting double, sometimes three times of what is accrued to them. There are construction sites all over the states,” Idris said.

The Minister highlighted challenges the country was facing before the coming into power of President Tinubu.

He further noted that had it not be the bold decisions taken by Tinubu, the consequences would have been better imagined then experienced.

The Minister admitted that the country is challenged by insecurity and other temporary setback occasioned by the bold, but necessary actions and reforms, adding that it will definitely lead to better life for all Nigerians.

“Just check out our foreign reserve now. For the first time in seven years we’ve gone to about 46 plus billion dollars. Manufacturers can now easily access foreign exchange from Central Bank for their businesses.

“We have the NELFUND for students; 780,000 young men and women are in school because of that single policy of President Tinubu. He has committed nearly $200 billion dollars of that and still counting.

“Also, many years ago, whenever Christmas was coming, you would be hearing that there is possibility of fuel scarcity, but today, there is nothing of such. That is the effort of President Tinubu.

“The military authorities have told us that they have eliminated over 135,000 of these terrorist and criminal elements. Nearly 200,000 of them have somehow taken off the streets. We know that it is not yet over, but this is a work in progress.

“Even before the so-called characterisation of Nigeria as a country that is not religiously friendly, it is Tinubu that rejigged the armed forces of this country to ensure that there are new set of people to address the situation,”Idris said.

Idris said each regions of the country now has a development commission to bring progress and development closer to the people, adding that Tinubu has urge state governments to allow local to function independently.

He noted that the Minister of Health and Coordinated Minister for Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate has signed a landmark agreement with the U.S. government that is bringing a lot of funding into Nigeria to take care of our health sector.

“A lot of good things are happening and I think that we need to appreciate Mr President and give him the support.

“This country was on a very shaky foundation. He spent the first two and a half years of his administration trying to fix it.

“This government understands that reforms must be accompanied by honest dialogue, public enlightenment and a shared sense of national purpose.

“For the first time, there is no administration in the history of this country that has focused on youth like the presidency of President Bola Tinubu.

“President Tinubu believes that without educated and healthy citizens, productivity will not rise, without infrastructure, jobs and enterprise will not scale,” Idris said.

He appreciated members of the APC Support Group for their unwavering commitment and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu.

“I urged you to remain focused, united, resolute as we walk with President Tinubu to build a stronger, more prosperous, and secure Nigeria that all of us need for the prosperity that he has promised us when he took office”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that leaders of various support of the APC eulogised Idris, Tinubu and promised to work for the president and party in 2027.

They, however, complained of lack of accessibility to some of the appointees of the President in Ministries,  Departments and Agencies.  (NAN)
