The Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has declared Ademola Adeleke,
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the 2018 election conducted in the state which initially upheld Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The three man tribunal was headed by its Chairman, Ibrahim Sirajo, said the objections brought by Oyetola, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were misconceived and therefore was struck out.
The upturning of Oyetola’s victory followed the challenge of the outcome of that election by the PDP candidate.
Meanwhile, the PDP Presidential candidate in the February 16 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is also challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari, has hailed the victory of Senator Adeleke.
Atiku in his tweeter handle, said the Judiaciary has once proven to be the last hpe of the common man and defender of democracy.
He said: “Truly, the judiciary is the last hope of the common man and the defender of our democracy.”
The three man tribunal upheld the petitions filed by Adeleke, while up-holding the petition, it said Adeleke’s petition has merit.
